Unfaithful Politicians & How To Replace Them

7/29/2017

Comments

Oklahoma Republicans celebrated wildly, last November. But not so many are still as happy, this summer.
The Oklahoma senate had just 6 Democrats. But Liberal ideology infects the majority & flows richly down the aisles of the chamber.
The House leadership became an oxymoron. What started out looking like a great opportunity, turned into a complete apostasy with several unconstitutional affronts thrown in.
Fallin came out of the closet and showed her liberal cravings for govt. growth. The first female governor has the very legacy she ran against 20 years ago.

There is a serious need for political reform, but it will not come from the party leadership and it certainly does not come from the leadership of any branch of state govt.
Only the equivalent of 'peasants with pitchforks' have the ability to exact the needed reforms.

Filing for elections is still more than 6 months away, but several people are already considering a run. It will take passionate and principled conservatism. It will take money. It will take volunteers, It will take studies, meetings, self-educating, and disciplined structure to make a difference next spring.

Editorial:  'Republican' Doesn't Mean Anything

7/29/2017

Comments

It's early Saturday morning and my coffee is doing it's job. I'm fairly awake, .... but am I really? I'm listening to Dan Bongino's podcast. He's filling in for Mark Levin. Bongino contends that; "It wouldn't matter if we had 70 Republicans in the US Senate.... they still would not have repealed ObamaCare. The RNC does not want to defeat the liberal programs."

Republican politicians want the conservative issues. They want to raise money and get re-elected on the promises that they never intend to keep. Political consultants coach their clients to verbally support conservative ideas, but they'll never actually fix the problem once they're elected. Abortion is a classic example. Bush41 claimed to be a convert to the pro-life cause, but he enacted policies & appointed justices to keep the baby killing industry alive.

I wonder when this charade will end? The Republican label has become rather meaningless. I will not fall in line anymore. I have watched the Republican US Senators break faith with the party. Sure, 43 did vote for repealing Obamacare. But there are very few solid conservatives in the senate. And the House is not much better.

Priebus Emerges As Lead Suspect In Leaks Probe

7/27/2017

Comments

It appears that the Trump White House is setting up for a purge. The Scaramucci hire is just the precursor.
In the last 24 hours, Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci posted a tweet where he suspiciously tags Priebus in connection to a leaking of personnel files which are he believes are protected by federal law.

It may be that the Republicans in the DC establishment have constructed a system to take down or at least paralyze this Trump Administration. The leaks are happening in defiance of federal law. Those crimes are supposed to be investigated by the Justice Dept., under AG, Jeff Sessions. Among Trump's expressed disappointments with Sessions, is the lack of findings in the leaking investigation.

When Scaramucci appeared before the White House Press, he said that he reports directly to the president. That flies in the face of standard protocols which put Priebus as the gatekeeper of who sees the president. We may now know why this break from protocol is taking place.
  Scaramucci later elaborated..
“If Reince wants to explain that he’s not a leaker, let him do that,” Mr. Scaramucci said on CNN Thursday. “But let me tell you about myself. I’m a straight shooter and I’ll go right to the heart of the matter.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham Plots Against Trump

7/27/2017

Comments

Donald trump is finding that the DC Swamp has some Republican Crocodiles. Lindsey Graham is emerging as one of them.
The latest move comes in the midst of trump's vocal displeasure about the actions of AG Jeff Sessions. Graham is crafting legislation which prevents Robert Mueller from being fired by the president.
 The AP reports;
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate Judiciary Committee is working on legislation that could attempt to insulate Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being fired.
A Republican and two Democrats said Thursday they're among committee members working on legislation that would prevent the firing of special counsels without judicial review. They are Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Democrats Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.
A Graham spokesman says the senator's still working on the bill, and it's unclear when it will be introduced.
Graham has sternly warned Trump not to fire Mueller or Attorney General Jeff Sessions. He said Thursday there would be "holy hell" to pay if Trump fired Sessions.
This is developing, but it would lead to developing the ultimate 'swamp monster' if we have a prosecutor who answers to no one.

'Deplorables' - The New Yankee Doodles

7/25/2017

Comments

In 1774, the elite of London was stuck in the vice of snobbery. They foolishly sought to bolster their own esteem by robbing others of theirs.
One such manifestation was the labeling of the Maccaroni Club. These were the outsiders who strayed from the fashion orthodoxy. That derogatory term was usually reserved for the European class.  It wasn't a real club, but rather a derrogatory designation. Eventually, the european wigs which high society men wore, were called Maccaroni wigs. But a 'dandy' was known as an effeminate man who tried to impress others with his obnoxious apparel and behavior.
This same British society also devised an other fictional caricature they referred to as Yankee Doodle. A folk song was composed about him where he tried to elevate himself to the Maccaroni Club.
In 1775, the British soldiers who occupied Boston, would occasionally sing the folk song... 'Yankee doodle'. Yankee was a term the British had coined referring to those in North american colonies. Doodle was a term denoting obnoxious singing, as an intoxicated fellow might exhibit.

Trump's 'Boy Scout Address' to 45,000 Boys

7/25/2017

Comments

If it was a political campaign event, it would have been the new benchmark for success. Donald Trump met with 45k scouts at the National Jamboree. It was certainly his most friendly crowd since taking his presidential oath.
This was a perfect backdrop for Trump's message of "Make America Great Again".
Picture
Trump's message was largely taken from  the Scouting handbook. He spoke of t
  • The Scout Law ["a scout is trustworthy, loyal,..."],
  • The scout oath [" Doing your duty to God & country"],
  • The scout motto ["being prepared"], and
  • The scout slogan ["doing good deeds, daily"].

Problems Arise For New Left Lane Law

7/24/2017

Comments

Some rural lawmakers, including the House Speaker, designed a new revenue bill (HB2312) to collect fines from motorists who dare to use the left lane in ways that rural politicians couldn't imagine.
Some of the scenarios will present great frustration for drivers, and perhaps some unwarranted traffic citations. Several drivers will never truly see justice when some of those citations are imposed upon them.  Expect to pay more than $200 any time you get cited.
Anyone who has attempted to contest a traffic citation have seen the way the game is really played. Often judges will slow-walk a case, causing far more time and resources to be wasted in the effort to defend an action. First you have the initial court date. It's nothing but a paper-shuffle and you are given a 2nd conference date when you plead not guilty. It may take you at least 3 days off work to sit around a courtroom awaiting your opportunity to  present your case. If you have witnesses, they are also inconvenienced. Then you get to watch judges letting other lawyers cut in line. They always get to go first, when they are sitting in the special seats reserved just for them
But back to our issues with this bill. It leaves way too much vague terminology that will not mean the same thing to drivers as they might to peace officers.
  Here's the text of HB2312:

Shelley Brumbaugh Endorsed By Tulsa Republican Assembly In HD 76 Special Election

7/18/2017

Comments

The Tulsa Area Republican Assembly met tonight to endorse a candidate in the upcoming Special election for House District 76 (Broken Arrow). Numerous candidates appeared before the group to make their case for the support of this conservative group.

The candidates were given extended  time for speeches at last month's meeting. Then they were asked  20-questions in a written inquiry. Finally, they were asked to be available to the members for individual concerns.

Tonight they summed up their appeal for the support just before the members held a group discussion and balloted vote.

Shelley Brumbaugh was the overwhelming choice, garnering 94.7% of the vote.  This far exceeded the 67% threshold for the organization's formal endorsement.

Shelley (Edwards) Brumbaugh is a small business voice for the legislature. She grew up in a family dry cleaning business, in Wagoner, OK. She and her late husband, Rep. David Brumbaugh, operated their own energy company for several years. While he was serving in the legislature, Shelley was keeping the operation profitable and running efficiently. She also served and David's closest political consultant on several matters.

7/18/2017

Comments

House Budget Committee Chair, Rep. Leslie Osborn, was removed from Speaker McCall's leadership team, today.
It happened one day after she broke ranks with the speaker in her public statements about state agency funding.
Here is McCall’s email to House members, in its entirety:

"Members,
I wanted you to be the first to know that I have replaced Rep. Osborn as Chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee.
Rep. Kevin Wallace is now Chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee. I was greatly impressed with Kevin’s knowledge and capabilities of the budget process last session, and I appreciated his willingness to engage with all members of our Caucus. I believe he will serve our caucus and state well in his new role.
As always, I welcome the opportunity to visit with you personally about this matter or any other issue of significance to you. Please call me any time if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Speaker Charles McCall"

Four 'Patriotic' Terms That Aren't Really Uniquely Ours

7/16/2017

Comments

In our quest to express national loyalty, we often refer to terms which make our loyalty absolutely clear. But often we discover that even our enemies use these same terms in their nationalistic jargon.

Two of my college-age kids were surprised to learn a few lessons from the Mayan people of The Yucatan, in eastern Mexico. A few years ago, they were working with a local church in the city of Jose Maria Morales. The people there were great and it was a life-changing experience. But my kids were surprised to learn that all of the people of the two continents (South & North America) consider themselves to be 'American'.
Here are four terms which really aren't as exclusive as we may have assumed.
  1. American
  2. 'Red, White, & Blue'
  3. 'Native American'
  4. 'Free' Country

Red, White, & Blue

In reality, 37 other flags of nations & ethnicities are using these colors. Even those whom the USA deems a threat to our global interests. the French, Russians, British, and even North Korea; are rallying around the term of "Red, White, & Blue".
Picture
The French Air Force recently participated in a Bastille Day event, using their national colors of 'Red, White, & Blue'.

Why Basic Child Protection Laws Are Essential To Life

7/15/2017

Comments

How Sexual Trauma Is Connected To Mental Illnesses

Parents become especially political when their children's lives are at stake. We see this when parents are dependent on the govt. to provide and education for their kids. We also see this when parents face the reality that their child was harmed by exploitation.

This is why the "war on drugs" has a legitimate role in protecting kids from pushers.

This is also why parents have pushed for the lifetime 'branding' of serious sex offenders and restricting where those sex offenders can live, travel, and associate with.
Being violated sexually is an extremely traumatic crisis. This is especially true for the developing child. Repeated trauma greatly increases the stress on the developing mind. The emotion-processing part of the brain is hit with more than it can sort out. Human nature leads individuals to seek to shut out their emotional centers, as a defense mechanism. That is the worst recipe for mental health. When kids keep these dark secrets hidden, the damage sets in... often permanently.

The National Institute of Health posted this;

"In a patient series of 115 eating-disordered women, a secondary diagnosis of borderline personality disorder was associated with a reported history of sexual abuse. The association was specifically with childhood sexual abuse (first experience at less than 14 years), rather than with abuse later in life or with intrafamilial experiences.
A model involving background features, precipitants, and immediate and long-term psychological consequences is suggested to explain this specific link to childhood abuse."
Editor's Note:
I am a teacher of the NAMI education series called "Family to Family". I teach families who care for a loved one with a mental illness. Officially, NAMI comes just short of declaring that sexual exploitation is often in the background history of many people with two significant mental illnesses; Post Traumatic Stress, and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Oklahoma's Still 'Shaking', But Not As Often

7/14/2017

Comments

The people of most of Oklahoma were reminded Friday morning that the seismic instability is still an issue.
Within minutes, the USGS assigned the latest quake as a 4.2 magnitude. A 3.8 & a 2.7 event followed within minutes of the first.
Just last September, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission instituted a policy off limiting the volume of waste saltwater back into the ground under the Arbuckle formation.
There's no doubt that the quake issue has improved since the policy was implemented. But we are learning as we go. The Arbuckle formation is a bedrock layer which has proven ideal for petroleum producers to return the byproduct saltwater back to the depths of the earth without harming surface waterways.
Some areas of Pawnee, Payne, Osage, and Logan County are completely off limits.  from injections back to the old wells.
Fracking is not a significant cause of this seismic activity. The Corporation Commission, the EPA, and the USGS all seem to largely concur on the matter. Fracking is a separate process and does not involve the massive volumes that saltwater waste injections do.
Picture
The latest quake activity is between Cushing & Stroud, in central Oklahoma.
