How Politicians Exploit Issues For Political Gain

5/31/2020

Comments

Mpls Democrats have had every opportunity to fix bigotry in city govt.

To no one's surprise, a big leftist American city has some bigots in power. It's not like those bigots were already there when the Democrats took over. Mpls has always been leftist & very Democrat.
The Minnesota DFL (Democrat Farmer-Labor) party has some 'splain'n to do.  The unionized police force is furious at the mayor's office. They've been fighting for years over policies which have 'handcuffed' the cops and let criminals of certain ethnicities 'skate'.
When your arrest quota if full up on one ethnicity, how do you protect a neighborhood from one of their own who's gone bad? And do you get in trouble for using the term 'gone bad'?
The political correctness is run amuck. Group-think owns the culture and the penalties for dissent are merciless.
George Floyd & his girlfriend needed a truly integrated community. Mpls failed to be that city, for them.

George Floyd & Courtney Ross are now separated by his death at the hands of Mpls police.

Medical Marijuana Farmers & Shops Call For Special Session

5/29/2020

Comments

State Representative, Scott Fetgatter joined several shop owners, farmers and patients at the state capitol, today. They were there to deliver letters to Governor Stitt, calling for a special session narrowly focused on fixing bad legislation which inadvertently failed to add key 'grandfather clauses' to allow fully licensed existing farms & shops to continue operations.
Last year the legislature added a clause requiring a 2-year residency before a citizen can acquire a Medical Marijuana Business license(MMB). The previous state agency rule was 3 months. Those annual licenses are up for renewal and the OMMA is not allowed to renew those licenses unless the legislature fixes their mistake.
And the legislature overwhelmingly approved that fix, but with a very shortened session, the legislature condensed about a dozen bills into just one. the governor had a couple narrow objections and vetoed the bill. It's believed he did not want to approve home delivery for patients who are homebound. He is also said to object to cancer patients from other states who are in Oklahoma getting care at the Cancer Treatment Hospitals and other care facilities. That 90-day licensing provision evidently bothers the governor.
But Atty Ron Durbin, who advises farmers and shop owners on compliance with state law, is insisting that the legislature's failures, and the governor's narrow objections; are forcing massive business failures for an industry which now provides over $100 million in annual revenue to state & local govt.
Picture
Durbin explains that nearly all MMB licenses are issued to families who have put their whole life savings into there shops and farms. A mistake on bill writing should not lead to the ruin of these families.

Employment Director Resigns Over Massive Failures To Fund The Record Unemployed

Stitt Administration Suffers Another major Agency Failure..

The State Director of the Oklahoma Employment Services Commission (OESC) Just resigned, yesterday. Her oversight Board was set to vote her out at an emergency meeting scheduled for next week.
Robin Roberson was only on the job 4 months, when she quit the post. It happens as her agency struggles to respond to the worst employment crisis in more than 50 years.
Federal funds are supposed to be issued to thousands of Oklahoma workers, but after 2 months of waiting, thousands still don't have their first check. That's the fault of the OESC, and Roberson is responsible to make that happen.

In all fairness, the foundational problems with the OESC are deeper than one director.   The 5-member board of commissioners who hired Roberson this past winter, are now handing off many of the functions to the OMES.

Covid-19 Fades Away From Oklahoma

5/23/2020

Comments

As a public health emergency, Covid-19 (a.k.a. Wuhan Virus) is no longer a state public health emergency. That's the message from the Oklahoma House of Representatives, who voted nearly unanimously to end the state of emergency, yesterday morning.
In fact, the data from the State Health Dept shows that the worst of the health emergency  was about 6 weeks ago.
While the virus is still a current cause of sickness & even death, it's not significant to a level of special rules and certainly does not justify abusing citizens of their civil rights.
Hepatitis, annual flu, cancer, heart disease; they are far more deadly to Oklahomans. Auto accidents, occupational hazards, criminal violence; are far more deserving of public safety focus with state & local resources.
We went to the special website of the Oklahoma Health Dept. to see the latest details.  The graph to the right was not readily accessible to our observation. It was only by selectively turning off some user controls that we could see the daily death reports and capture that screen.  In fact, the website designers seem to attempt to shift our focus to the cumulative data, so as to subtly suggest that the situation is worse today than at any other time?
Picture
Oklahoma's Fatalies from the Wuhan Virus have dissipated to far less impact than auto fatalities.

DC Takes Notice As Sooner Politics Marks 6th Anniversary

5/21/2020

Trump's Senior Political Advisor, Corey Lewandowski; shares a toast and encouragement to Oklahoma's citizen journalists.

In 2014, a handful of bloggers got together to enhance the communications or the Tea Party and several 'flavors' of conservative grassroots advocacy. I stepped up and agreed to set up the website and vast hours of coding to draw an aggregate feed of any and all citizen journalists and groups who have information to share with fellow Oklahomans.

In the past 6 years we've grown from a single page website to a 10-section news digest with content of a vast spectrum of philosophies about the role of govt.

We currently have perhaps 80 partner bloggers who simply make their feeds available for the bots at SoonerPolitics to generate into opening paragraphs of articles. The readers then click through to the originating author's website to read the full story and perhaps subscribe to that website for notifications and/or email bulletins.

While we're becoming known across the state as a reliable political platform, it's encouraging and inspiring to find out that Washington and several other places are reading our 'online newspaper' to stay connected to the heartland.

Oklahoma Ranks 37th On 'Civil Incarceration Index'

5/19/2020

Oklahoma scores a 30 for aggressive suspension civil liberties in the name of public health.

This is not an index where we want to be 'top ten'. When Attorney General Bill Barr warned several states that an indefinite blanket Curfew is a defacto House Arrest" it provided a brief moment of clarity in the cause of defending our civil liberties.
Civil Liberties define who we are, in the USA. It's the proudest patriotic claim of the past  244 years. Without civil liberties ensconced in constitutional stone, our nation is no different from any cheap populist society which blows in the wind of time.
Sooner Politics searched the vast databanks of America's great think tanks, to find reliable data on the various state orders, to provide some sort of index to compare the states.
Click on each state, to see their unique score.

Universal Basic Income Is Slavery To The Govt

5/14/2020

Comments

A form of slavery far worse than which was imposed upon minority races in the early years of American colonization, is now being marketed as Universal Basic Income(UBI), by socialists in the US Congress.
It's eerily like the narratives pitched by Karl Marx & served as the ideology of Lenin, Mao, Ortega, and Chavez. It claims to be the liberation of the poor, and utilized class envy to demonize those who provide the bulk of free market employment opportunities.
But once the cash starts going out, productivity will quickly crash, and sink the nation in depression, causing yet another call for even more free money and services.
This will result in hyperinflation and an inevitable crash of the global trading standard... the US Dollar.
Once the US Dollar ceases to be propped up by other nations, the destruction of the US will be all but complete.
Reject & expose this political push to govt. enslavement of the people. Remain a free agent, and let the private sector bid up the value of your employment and productivity. Or better yet, start your own enterprise and own yourself.

Rural Oklahoma Has the Worst Wuhan Virus Rates

5/7/2020

Comments

Meat Processors, Convalescent Care, Medical Facilities, & Migrant Worker Housing; were the most common facilities where the century's worst pandemic spread is showing up.  A virus which originated in the city of Wuhan, in Communist China; has covered the world and especially the United States.
The worst outbreak is in Guymon, in the Oklahoma panhandle (Texas County). There, a slaughter house run by Seaboard Meats and run with Asian and Somali immigrant workers has a massive local infection rate.
Greer County and Washington County have massive local infection rates in Nursing Homes & other medical & Rehab facilities.
Wuhan is the location of a virus research facility which the Chinese govt controls, and the United States helped fund, under the Obama Administration.  the Communist government has not provided transparency regarding how the virus is impacting China. Foreign media is largely blocked from access, and China is blaming the US for planting the virus in Wuhan.
Given the variety of local public policy rules, there appears to be no correlation between 'Stalinist' curfews and safer populations.  Social distancing & basic hygiene are largely the factors which work.

16 rural counties are more densely infected than Tulsa & OKC.

Picture
Even when practicing effective social distancing, some human interaction still occurs.  The odds that your interaction will be with an infected person, Is far greater in some rural counties, than the big cities of Oklahoma. For instance; 5 of the 7 counties next to Tulsa County, are more infected than is Tulsa County.

Oklahoma Is Becoming 'Less Equal' In Federal Representation

5/6/2020

Comments

'Equal Protection of our liberties ' is a constitutional mandate of all govt entities.  It simply means that everyone should be on equal standing in law and representation.  To that end, the founders mandated that a full census be taken at the beginning of each decade. We are currently compiling the 2020 census, to determine how the 435 seats of congress will be divided among the 50 states.
Twenty years ago, Oklahoma lost a seat in congress because other states eclipsed the slow growth in Oklahoma.  But ignoring census letters is a growing problem in the Sooner State. Great Lakes states are winning the war for Federal control, California and Northeastern states are also grabbing more federal resources and a plurality of representation, because the people in those states are complying with this constitutional process.
California knows that their state's tax and regulatory policies are harming their growth. In fact, they are possibly going to lose seats in congress.  This is one reason why they are now a sanctuary state for lawbreaking aliens to flock to. The billions in federal dollars California gets, is just one more way that Oklahoma taxpayers are paying for California's socialist enclave.
Federal pork and welfare is no longer just going to destitute, disabled, and discriminated sectors.  But it won't change if conservatives aren't properly represented in elections and the halls of congress.
Picture
The census is now a way of deciding where trillions of federal and state dollars will be spent.

Meat Plants & Prisons Are Top Infestations For Covid Pandemic

5/5/2020

Comments

Yesterday, the biggest recent 'outbreaks' of Covid were reported at facilities where the individuals have almost no way of refuting the data. Govt. had essentially full responsibility for the conditions created at these facilities.
  • 3 are incarceration facilities (fully govt controlled)
  • 4 are meat processors (USDA monitored) & mostly foreign labor
  • 1 is both a prison and a meat process
It wasn't caused by consumers shopping, or American workers going back to their jobs.. These 6 Rural locations have a denser infestation of Covid-19 than does New York City.
In Guymon, OK; over 100 new cases were reported in a pork processing plant where a largely immigrant workforce works for SeaBoard Meat Processing.
In North central Indiana, a Tyson Meat processing plant had a massive infestation among the refugee workforce. It accounts for  about 900 positive tests, or 7% of all Covid-19 cases reported this year, in Indiana.
In Worthington, Minn.; the world's largest meat processing corporation; JBS of Brazil; had a massive outbreak of about 1000 immigrant workers. It spiked the Minnesota cases (which had been the lowest density in the nation) by 12%. Worthington is in a county of about 20,000 residents.

Half of Arkansas Active Covid Cases Are In One Prison

5/4/2020

Comments

Gov. Asa Hutchinson and his public health team gave a status update on Sunday. While the data was not yet complete, they did confirm over 600 prisoners at just one Lincoln County facility are suffering from the Covid-19 virus. While very few are hospitalized, those familiar with prison healthcare know that it is largely an oxymoron.
Oklahoma was exposed for being perhaps the least-tested state in the nation.  Gov. Hutchinson pointed out that Arkansas is among the most thoroughly tested. It's an area where Gov. Stitt's goal of being 'Top Ten' is still falling far short (assuming that we like public health institutions having our private health data).
We further searched the current prison population and found a result that 1673 Male inmates are currently assigned to Cummins. This means that about 38% of the prison population is currently carrying the virus. Three have died from what is admitted to be Covid symptoms. It's not known whether they received ample healthcare services in a timely manner.
Picture
Many of the sick prisoners may have felt coerced to report to duty at one of the industries operated by the State Prison. We don't yet know if they were handling meat or other food products destined to end up on store shelves & in coolers.

Guymon Meatpacking Plant Hit With Covid

5/4/2020

Comments

Over the weekend, the pork processing plant in Guymon, OK became a huge concern to Oklahoma public health, the USDA, and consumers everywhere.
It's a scenario which is duplicated all over the nation, where meat processing plants are exploding with Covid-19. In Worthington, Minnesota, nearly 5% of the entire county is confirmed stricken with the virus, and it's clearly centered around a local facility where the world's largest meat processing corporation utilizes a large foreign immigrant workforce to butcher hogs and create meat products for most of the nation's grocery stores.
The highest concentration of Minnesota's entire positive Covid-19 cases are now in one little rural county (Nobles), in the SW corner of the state. Until this outbreak, Minnesota had been the least saturated state in the union for Covid positive tests.
In response, Oklahoma ranchers are largely offering to sell directly to consumers. Muskogee Politico writes that the Oklahoma Cattlemen's association is now compiling a database for consumers to contact ranchers in their area and arrange for direct transactions.
Picture
Over 100 employees of Guymon's Seaboard Meat Processing Plant are now listed as Covid-19 patients.

"Climb On It": Citizen Ownership of Govt.

5/3/2020

Comments

We're coming up on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Soviet block empire, and the end of the cold war. It met it's demise, not by the firing of missiles, or invading beach heads. It happened when the people in those lands rediscovered liberty in small doses, and decided they had a birth right to all of the liberty God gave them.
The first images of Germans dancing on the Berlin Wall, with machine gun turrets in the background, showed the world that liberty is a powerful doctrine.  It is a doctrine whose inspiration comes from Jefferson's American Declaration of Independence of 1776,  Bishop Stephen Langton's British Magna Carta of 1215, and Professor Martin Luther's Ninety-five Theses, of 1517.
Those vested with govt. power have the most opportunity to defend human liberty; and they also face the most scrutiny for actions which undermine liberty. But liberty and security are not synonymous. In fact, Benjamin Franklin says they are often diametrically opposed.
Picture
First, Berlin became free, in November of 1989. Then all of East Germany, in 1990. Lastly, the entire Soviet Block of nations, in 1991.

We seeks to utilize the efforts of all cooperative facets of the Conservative movement... Content of the diverse columns are solely at the discretion of the dozens of websites who create the content.   David Van Risseghem  is the founder of this platform.
Sooner Politics News is a platform, not a media site. All our bloggers get their feeds promoted regardless of content. As soon as We suppress or delete even one posting, we become an endorser of whatever We didn't censor..The publisher doesn't (and could not) logically agree with all the content, so we would not expect any rational reader to agree, either. What we do hope, is that readers will think for themselves, and at least be better informed of the issues, events, and values that our citizen journalists work hard to provide for free.. We automate much of the tasks so that our sources' content gets as much exposure as possible. We encourage constructive discussion & debate. The solution is more free speech, not less.
