How Reliable Is This Data?
We know nothing about the pollster. It seems the poll operator wants it that way. Often a news editor will opt to ignore anonymous 'tips' like this. We were going to leave it be, but we decided to make a point for our readers. Current media tools make polling like this almost cost-free. As a result, many elected officials are starting to conduct their own polling on issues impacting their constituents. It's better than trying to ascertain voter sentiments than deciding matters based on a few dozen phone calls and emails received by the public official. so we better get used to it. These aren't the first polling numbers our news desk has received this year. It will likely be a regular occurrence.
| But the 'Kapeniak Poll' seems too cute. Using a likely 'burner phone' and vague address, the pollster doesn't want to become the story. Nor would an honest private citizen who just wants to get the answers which commercial media are not providing. It's time for citizens to fill the gaps where commercial media operations lack the innovative passion to connect with citizens in new ways. |  |
