Please take the few minutes to watch this incredible video of Ben Shapiro's 8 Debate Tips.
1. Is this debate even worth it? 2. Know your debate opponent. What are they about? 3. Disarm your opponent's most unfair debate tactics. 4. Frame the terms of the debate. (specifications, definitions, loaded questions, etc). 5. Know what is known & what is not known. Defer to get back to the discussions once you've had time to study their facts. 6. Defend ideas & principles, not individuals. 7. Demand clarification of terms. Don't allow blurring of concepts. Be very clear on terminology. 8. Argue from fundamental principles. |

Shapiro demonstrates many of his debate tips in this 2018 interview with Bill Maher.
Note that Shapiro stipulates that the expected Mueller report has not yet been released (at that time) and rather than waste his efforts on empty conjectures (as Maher was doing) Shapiro commits to waiting for the report and says he will support impeachment if certain facts are established. Maher ends the debate with admiration for Shapiro on several principles and felt vindicated by some points where Shapiro agrees with him on the propriety of certain remedies. Both men went away from the debate believing they prevailed on some fundamental principles. |
