In the first few hours of the quadrennial filing period, 8 Democrat candidates have already completed their filing for the March 3rd 'Mega Tuesday' primary elections. 14 states are slated to hold presidential contests that day. California & Texas will be the biggest prizes. It's Oklahoma's Presidential Preference Primary Elections, conducted by the State government for the benefit of the recognized political parties. The state pays well over a million dollars to provide this service for the political parties. The filing fee is $5000, or provide thousands of voter signatures, to qualify. Oklahoma statutes require the $5000 fee, unless the candidate can present the signatures of at least 1000 qualified party electors in each of the 5 Oklahoma Congressional Districts. The major candidates all opt to write the check rather than attempt to collect the signatures. Here are the listed candidates, as of 4pm, Monday.. |
