Randy Brogdon checked in to The Pat Campbell Show, this morning. Pat was discussing the scenario of a sudden vacancy in congress if Jim Bridenstine did get nominated and confirmed to a post in the Trump administration (NASA Administrator or Head of the Air Force, are two possible scenarios).
Pat Campbell discussed the importance of a well-financed campaign. This topic brought about a response from the former state senator and OKGOP chairman. Randy called in especially to emphasize that while we have an "irreplaceable man" in Jim Bridenstine, there is a very good possibility that a special election scenario could bring about a better prospect for maintaining a strong conservative voice for the 1st district of Oklahoma. Brogdon also expressed he importance of a very well funded effort. Brodgon's 2014 US Senate campaign was stymied by campaign laws which held him back from even raising campaign funds for the race, because he had to shut down his active campaign for Oklahoma governor. |
While funding laws weren't the only problem in that campaign, they were a huge factor which then created other problems. It was akin to a race horse's gate not opening until the other horses were at the other end of the racetrack. For Brogdon's conservative friends across the state, it was a refreshing conversation and we all hope to hear from the former head of the OKGOP. Hopefully, Pat Campbell will also post the podcast of the impromptu conversation. He has a good sense of the Tea Party's sensibilies and how to communicate that message in a way that garners bipartison support. He used those skills in his office as a state senator from Owasso, to get major state reforms passed, even with a Democrat governor. |
