In a shameless and transparent 'midnight hour' move, Cindy Byrd joined Democrats Joy Hofmeister & David Prater, to have the founders of Oklahoma's fastest-growing charter schools arrested for undisclosed 'felonies'.
Epic founders, Ben Harris & David Chaney, along with Josh Brock of the Epic Leadership team; were perp-walked through the Oklahoma County Jail facilities.
The Epic charter school model is a first of it's kind in Oklahoma, replacing the concrete structure with a home computer connected to the full library of curriculum and a personal tutor.
Where Oklahoma's traditional schools ate up about half of public tax dollars for non-instructional expenses, like thousands of 6-figure administrative salaries; Epic prides itself on delivering 80% of funds to direct academic 'classroom' instruction. |
Yesterday the Epic founders were ambushed by a swarm of cops and perp-walked through the jail process. they had to post over $500,000 of bond to get out of jail late in the day. Today, the Oklahoma court website (OSCN) had even less details than the political buzzwords from the trio of politicians who conspired to destroy Oklahoma's most successful educators, for their own political gain.
Predictably, the leftist tv, radio, & print media dutifully carried the hyperbolic press releases of Prater, Hofmeister, & Byrd, as well as other deep-state actors who played their part. Not one actual statutory narrative was offered, and most media outlets never asked why the court filings were left out of the publicity campaigns. |
Below is the OSCN case, without any prosecutorial facts to back up the election-weekend stunt.

Chaney & Harris have long been working with the law firm of Gary Richardson & his partners. Gary is a former federal prosecutor and very capable of exposing political smears. Richardson, himself, was the intended victims of a 1981 FBI plot to defame him and keep him from an appointment by President Ronald Reagan. Richardson foiled that plot and nearly succeeded in having FBI agents prosecuted for crimes involved in the plot. Richardson then worked with fellow federal prosecutors Frank Keating & Bill Price, to expose and convict several dozens of Democrat county commissioners for a widespread kickback scheme involving road project funds.
This plot by Hofmeister, Prater, & Byrd; has been years in the crafting. Yet 24 hours after the perp-walk, voters have no actual court charges to view and ponder as they decide whether Byrd & Hofmeister should get their trust for another 4-year term in statewide office. If the case was solid, the political actors would be citing criminal counts and actual criminal acts. Instead, we only have bloviating and pompous smoke & mirrors.
