One of my many privileges in civic activism is the opportunity to meet so many fine Oklahomans. One of the most selfless and giving men I've met in Oklahoma politics is Darren Gantz. Thus, his yard sign was the first to get a spot in my front lawn. Here's why I support this diligent and dedicated man. He builds the community and brings the county together. As volunteer in his party, Darren has spent a great deal of time finding and supporting worthy candidates for office. He's poured himself into the people he supports. I point this out first because very few other candidates are anywhere to be found when the call for campaign work goes out. Candidates are more often a very self-absorbed bunch. Another important reason for Darren's candidacy is to bring a "clearing of the room" after many years of the current administration. Yazel's been there a long time. We used to see Yazel doing a lot for the party and social causes. |
We do see John Wright when a campaign is underway. John also helps with county conventions. But John Wright will likely serve just one term and then enjoy a lucrative county pension check for life. Darren Gantz wants to continue his public service for many years before ever seeking a retirement pension. That alone is a good reason to elect a 40-something over a 60-something.
Many of you don't know either of the candidates personally. To that I feel a particular duty to tell you that while I'm not in any way impacted privately by either man's fortunes, Darren has reached out to me a lot over the past 5 years and increasingly so. Our long hours in both consultation and civic volunteering have made us even closer advisors to each other in civics, in family matters, in faith, and in life.
Darren has led the Republican Mens' Club of Tulsa County. I currently lead the Tulsa Republican Assembly. We have been able to merge our efforts and team up for many efforts that neither group could easily accomplish all alone. We have even drawn in other civic groups to join us in a spirit of cooperation. And that's a tribute to the kind of cooperative spirit the county will get from Darren Gantz. Please join me in giving Darren Gantz your full support.
