The rumor mills in the social media world are full of misquotes and half-truths about how influencers express their thoughts in the Covid pandemic.
Among the most misquoted passages is that of Franklin Graham, who heads his father's evangelistic association. Lately, several folks have told me that franklin said; "Jesus would get the Covid vaccine." So I searched several sources and found what appears to be a Twitter post from Franklin. It was posted 10 months ago, as the phased rollout was just becoming widely available to the general population. This is one matter where the jingo-ized question; "What Would Jesus Do?"(WWJD), does not work(theologically). Here's the directive that Franklin imparts to the public. "Since there are different vaccines available, my recommendation is that people do their research, talk to their doctor, and pray about it to determine which vaccine, if any, is right for them." - Franklin Graham March, 2021 - Twitter |
Franklin's summary is spot on. He says the individual, after doing his own;
Franklin started his short thesis by acknowledging the Godly role that medical arts and sciences have served for mankind. Further, he refers to scripture which elaborates on godly acts of mercy which include car and treatment for illnesses and injuries. He goes on to point to scriptural mandates for ministering healing to the sick. Franklin's next point shows just how pathetic some media outlets have been. Franklin literally says; "Did Jesus need a vaccine Himself? Of course not. He is God." Then Graham cites some past successes from immunizing technologies. He asks us, since other illnesses have been successfully abated by vaccines, "why not this virus?" That was his question 10 months ago. Now we have a mountain of evidence about the limits and risks of the various vaccines. |
