They Don't Know Us. | The pundits are still trying to explain how they missed this election. They talk like they were caught by surprise by some statistical anomaly. The fact is they don't know us. Those of us out here in the heartland. Those of us in fly-over country. Oh they know we're here but they don't really see us. They view us from 35,000 feet as they jet from east to west. They see us from their first class seat as they sip their martini. They don't know us and they don't understand us. Not one of them knows someone who makes less that $50,000 per year. Not one of them knows a family struggling in the Obama economy to make ends meet. Not one of them knows of someone who can't afford to buy health insurance under Obamacare but is now being fined by the government because they can't afford insurance. Not one of them knows a working family who is being taxed and that tax money going to someone who refuses to work. The pundits don't know us. We're the rednecks. We're the simple minded. We're the unsophisticated. We're the deplorables, clinging to our guns and Bibles. They don't know us, but now they sure do know we're here. |
