The city of Mannford, OK is in shock and grief, today; with the news that one of their own peace officers, Michael Patrick Nealey, is suspected of the violent murder of the police chief, Lucky Miller. The two were taking part in a convention in Pensacola, FL when they reportedly got into a violent brawl at the Hilton Hotel. Nealey is a veteran cop with special training in sex crimes. He's being held without bond in the Escambia County jail. Despite Florida's broad public record laws, his mugshot has not been released because Florida law makes an exemption for cops. According to Pensacola media, WEAR-TV; Miller's dead body was found on the beach on Sunday morning. Nealey was not arrested until this morning. No word has been released regarding the nature of the dispute or what the nature of the injuries were. We also have no word regarding any weapons used in the altercation. Miller died from the injuries, according to police reports. Lucky Miller has been with the Mannford Police dept. for more than 10 years and has earned praise for providing for a safe community. The city manager named officer Jerry Ridley as interim Chief, today. Miller, ag 44; has been the Mannford police chief since 2007. He is survived by his wife, Amber, and three children. UPDATES.. |
