McMullin: The Real Sabatuer

  While various Republican factions continue their finger-pointing and condemnations, the operations of Evan McMullin are perhaps the largest operation seeking to defeat the Republican presidential nominee, in 2016.

  McMullin is an opportunist who is cashing in on the angst of neocon eastern establishment Republicans and the staunch Mitt Romney base, particularly in Utah.

  In his recently published article, Chris Powell of the Oklahoma Libertarian party said;

"Evan McMullin is being touted as a dark horse to win the presidency. He’s not.

He’s a stalking horse, being used to hold back Gary Johnson."

  Utah is now a 3-way toss up state. McMullin's base has come mostly from Donald Trump's Republican party. Just a couple weeks ago, a major poll had Hillary Clinton & Trump tied at 26%, with McMullin at 22% and Gary Johnson at 14%. Since then, Johnson has dropped as low as 4% and McMullin has climbed to 29%.
  A massive influx of Clinton dark money could push a "Get Out the Vote" (GOTV) effort and give the very conservative state's 6 electoral votes to the most liberal Democrat president ever.
  This kind of sabotage is the work of the Rockefeller-Republican, Bill Kristol and Mitt Romney. They are encouraged by the George Bush family and other eastern establishment allies.
  Meanwhile, the more conservative and 'tea party' sects are supporting Trump because they shutter at the notion of another Clinton presidency.

In fact, more people will have a chance to mark a ballot for Gloria La Riva of the Socialism and Libertation Party than the 15.66% who can choose McMullin. Like all presidential candidates, McMullin has made empty promises, but didn’t wait for even a single vote to be cast to start breaking his word about aggressively pursuing legal action to obtain ballot status. As Richard Winger of Ballot Access News points out, “McMullin’s failure to file any ballot access lawsuits is a missed opportunity.”

  It seems unlikely that he just woke up one day and decided to run for president. Instead, he was chosen.

  One might begin to wonder what the point of Evan McMullin’s quixotic candidacy might be. It seems unlikely that he just woke up one day and decided to run for president. Instead, he was chosen. There are a great many Republicans that would have comparably non-existent name recognition and pedestrian political careers. But the numbers of Republicans about whom a pretense of qualification could be maintained, if only marginally, and who also happen to be a native Utahan and a Mormon are much smaller. Of that tiny group it appears there was at least one willing participant, Evan McMullin."
