The 'Dixiecrat' of the last century is no longer running today's Democrat Party, in Oklahoma. But the new Socialist Democrats of urban centers and university campuses, are a growing force to be reckoned with.
A review of the total vote counts from this weekend's 'In Person' & the Absentee Voting shows that the radical left is very busy getting their registered voters to cast ballots. In Oklahoma City, the Democrats outvoted the Republicans by about 20% . But Republicans have 20% more registered party members in that county. In Tulsa the Democrats exceeded the Republicans by more than 10%, even as Tulsa Republican outnumber Democrats by 50%. The university communities of OU & OSU(Norman & Stillwater) add more to the Democrat turnout, even as Republican number 50% more in those counties, as well. |
But it doesn't stop there. In about a dozen other counties in mostly east central Oklahoma, this weekend's voters were evenly divided between the two major parties.
The military base at Lawton is another Democrat base of strong voting. Party registrations are evenly split in that county. Republican Voter Apathy Has Consequences
Oklahoma, in the 1990s had a mirror-opposite of today's statewide registrations. Republicans were a vast minority party, but the grassroots passion and activism was enough to defeat the apathetic Democrat Party, in many elections. In this decade, the Democrat party has won many elections they weren't supposed to. But the Republican voters simply didn't show up, and the more motivated & organized minority party took legislative seats they hadn't held in several years.
Part of the apathy comes from elected officials who suddenly had leadership and had no excuses for failures they made. It's far easier to say what you woulda done, had you been given the power & influence. When your party had been in charge for over a decade, the results are going to be your judge. |
