What many Oklahomans may take for granted, is not as common as what you may have assumed... Namely; that customers like you will be valued by the small businesses you patronize. The accounting firm, FreshBooks, has studied their own clients' politeness toward customers, as reflected in the invoicing forms they use. Surprisingly, the invoices said a lot about the proprietor's mindset. Some states expressed an attitude of; 'Where the hell is our money!'. But others openly gushed appreciative affirmations of; 'We are so honored to have been selected, to meet a need in your life.' Oklahoma has nearly twice the score of the next most polite state (Alabama). Then came Ohio and (surprisingly) two New England states. Shockingly, Mississippi was the 3rd worst state. Only Utah & Tennessee were worse. None of those three would have been this journalist's guesses. I would have guessed New York & New Jersey (which did fall into the bottom 10) |
