Old White Men Hit Hardest By Covid Fatalities In Oklahoma

  The Oklahoma Health Dept. keeps some very helpful records on the pandemic casualties in the state. Here are some takeaways we can see from accumulative records:

1.  Women account for 13% more confirmed cases, but men are 30% more of the deaths.
2. White ethnicities(including Hispanics) seem to be proportionately slightly hit harder, and especially a larger part of the fatalities.
3. Those over 65 years are 15% of the cases, yet 80% of the fatalities, even though they are only 16% of the population.
4. Children (under19) are only 13 % of the confirmed cases, and just one fatality, even though they are 27%(over 1 million) of our population. 
5. Middle-aged (50-64) are 19% of the cases, 16% of the fatalities, but just 12% of the population.

All but 154 Oklahoma fatalities have been over 50 years old. Medical complications may have played a big role.

  According to our most recent sources of Oklahoma demographics, Whites (including the 11% who identify as Hispanic or Latino) total about 76% of Oklahoma's population. They are 78% of the covid patients, & 81% of the fatalities.
  Black ethnicities are about 8% of Oklahoma's population. They are only 5.4% of the covid patients, & 6% of the fatalities.
  North American Indians account for 9.4 % of Oklahoma's population. They are 9.9% of the covid patients, & 9% of the fatalities
  Asian ethnicities are about 2.4% of Oklahoma's residents, But just 1.4% of the covid patients, & 1.3% of the fatalities.
