For those who say that the "good 'ol boys" in the legislature are corrupt; Let me add that the reason why Dan Kirby resigned yesterday, might just have something to do with a new leadership team setting a higher standard. I would guess that Charles McCall was about to add more humiliation to the dialogue, by removing Dan Kirby from any leadership posts. His committee chairmanship was probably about to get yanked. He was probably going to be required to make a full accounting and a very compelling narrative of innocence, in order to be restored. You won't probably hear about it. But that's just the way good leadership handles stuff like this... quietly, but effectively. This was a bad week for the narrative of Republicans in the legislature. But there were quiet heroes you won't read about. The work of the legislature must be the focus. Not the rumored frat house antics of the few. Democrats have also behaved well, in this matter. Yes, they still demand an investigation. But Rep Eric Proctor and Joe Dorman also publicly commend the integrity of Charles McCall. Proctor says; "Charles McCall is a man of integrity, and I can't say that about every speaker." Dorman added; "McCall has the potential to be a phenominal Speaker." |
