Claiming a health emergency, Mayor GT Bynum is presenting for immediate emergency action, a law which has no sunset clause. Unlike the statewide emergency declaration which has a constitutional 30 day sunset. Bynum wants this unprecedented restriction to remain in effect until he deems it no longer helpful to our health.
While the covid virus does transmit via air, the more dangerous concern is physical contact. Even more risky is the exchange of bodily fluids. Yet Bynum's order does nothing to slow down the casual sexual contact at known prostitution shops around town. the last big publicized prostitution sting was done nearly a year ago, and those female prostitutes were not arrested. Instead, DA Steve Kunsweiler says they were offered career counseling opportunities. Hair salons and dental offices face stricter enforcement of health rules than sexual services proprietors. |
Bynum's draft ordinance does nothing to ban the consensual sex 'hook up' web services like Tinder, which are used to arrange 'one night stands' and anonymous sex contacts. But Bynum's order does specify strong lectures about safe congregational worship services. He does not restrict religious activities outright, but he clearly suggests the behavior has serious risks to health. So Tulsa cops will be tasked with writing up citations and warnings for thousands of folks who stand too close to each other at bus stops & parks, but ignoring those who actually exchange bodily fluids with unfamiliar clients and cohorts. |
