The well-funded campaign to raise 2/3 of a billion in extra Tulsa govt. cash; is practically unopposed by any organized conservative effort to challenge the messaging. Mayor GT Bynum says "Taxes will not go up." But is that true? No! The mayor is lying. It's not true. Taxes will increase by $2/3 of a billion dollars. What the mayor should have said is that the sales tax rate will not increase, it will instead be extended by several more years at the existing high 'temporary rate'. So if the roughly 1/3 of a million Tulsa citizens (including children and those who are tax-exempt) vote to raise an additional 2/3 of a billion, then that breaks down to $2000 of average tax increases per citizen. The voters have until 7pm, tonight, to weigh in on this matter; not just for themselves, but for the future generations who will be impacted by a taxing decision they had no voice in. |
