Editorial: End Federal Drug Laws. States Must Regulate Drugs

10/10/2019

Comments

I'm Proud that Oklahoma asserts our right to set drug policy constitutionally, & defies the statutes of the federal govt.
Picture
But Oklahoma only dared to do this regarding cannabis medicines. And only after California and 29 other states led the way. And then it was only done when the people stepped up and wrote the proposal, got the signatures, and waited for an election balloting.
The founders deliberately created a limited federal union. Unless the states specifically enumerate a power to the federal 'child' we created in 1788, then that power is reserved to the states & the individuals.  States are vested with several powers which federal government is denied. It was designed that way, so that Oklahoma is not governed by East Coast cultural values, and Oregon is not restricted to Arkansas lifestyle.

Newkirk Mayor Calls For Citizen Grand Jury Investigating State Officials

10/8/2019

Comments

Sources tell SoonerPolitics that a citizens' grand jury petition has been filed, today; at the Oklahoma County Courthouse, in OKC.
The petition focuses on 3 unresolved matters of suspected corruption by state officials.
  1.  The State Pharmacy board & State Health Dept may have colluded to undermine SQ788 by bribery and other corrupt activities, and the state's open meeting law.
  2. Members of the Oklahoma legislature have numerous unresolved accusations of sexual harassment as well as criminal sexual misconduct.
  3. State agencies & elected officials have colluded to defame Epic Charter Schools and the individuals in leadership of the online educational institution.
Mayor Brian Hobbs was shocked to find out many state officials have not been properly investigated, much less indicted, on some serious official misconduct complaints.
But what outraged him even more is that his Kay County citizenship bars him from taking the matter to the citizens and impaneling a grand jury to do the job that the District Attorney seems unwilling to do.

Leftist Legislator Files Suit Against 'Constitutional Carry'

10/7/2019

Comments

Desperate for campaign funds and moral victories, Rep Jason Lowe (D-OKC) is taking our constitutional rights to the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He'll rest all his legal arguments against the bill of rights on a technicality known as the 'Oklahoma Single Subject Rule'. It's been a favorite tool of our activist court in the past couple decades.
Lowe now says that even the historic phrase in the Bill of Rights would be a violation of the single subject. Incredulously, Lowe says keeping arms an bearing arms must be dealt with in two completely separate pieces of legislation.
Lowe filed the lawsuit earlier today. He previously fell short on a referendum petition, in August. He only needed 59,000 signatures to hold a ballot decision on the newly restored constitutional rights. But even with about 6 months since the bill became law, his political allies only came up with 37,000 alleged signatures. And even several of those were questionable, not to mention the lawsuit against that petition based on false data included in the proposal.

Mpls Cops Defy Leftist Mayor & Support Trump's Thursday Visit

10/7/2019

Comments

When former presidents, Bill Clinton & Barack Obama organized presidential events in Minneapolis, the local govt encouraged police officers to attend in uniform, as ambassadors of the city.  But when President Trump arrives this Thursday, all city police officers will be banned from wearing their police uniforms at any of the venues involved in the major events.
Donald Trump has scheduled a major rally at the state's largest NBA arena, the Target Center(20k seats).  It's not Trump's first or 2nd political event in the Gopher State. He's held massive rallies in Duluth & Rochester.
But now he's ready to bring his political power to the vastly far left bastions of the Twin Cities (Mpls & St Paul).

The Mpls Police Union has responded with a move of their own. They commissioned a red tee shirt design in the classic red with a Minnesota silhouette. the simple bold text says; "Cops For Trump". It's also possible that a legal suit will be filed against the city on first amendment grounds.

Bennett Continues Terror Prevention Work

10/6/2019

Comments

As a Marine, John Bennett's survival, and the welfare of his unit depended on knowing the threats they were surrounded by. During two deployments in the most radicalized parts of Iraq, Bennett ambitiously sought a thorough understanding of the Islamic doctrine, worldview, and manifesto.
Later, while serving in the Oklahoma legislature, Bennett sought to equip law enforcement agencies with a full understanding of the dangers of a radicalized religious terror threat.
Since retiring from both the Marines and the Oklahoma Legislature, Bennett is now  actively providing this knowledge base and national resources for law enforcement throughout the region.
Bennett collaborates with the former Asst. Secretary of Defense, Frank Gaffney. Gaffney heads up the Center for Security Policy (CSP).  The think tank collects data and provides the information to state & local govt.
Bennett recently presented an updated review of the threat from radicalized organizations who draw their resources from terror networks.

11 Tulsa Area Priests Named as Suspects of Sexual Investigation

10/3/2019

Comments

In a sobering moment of accountability, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma, published a report of "known & credible" allegations against members of the priesthood in their local organization. But the list contains mostly dead priests and a few who have been previously removed from active ministry several years ago.
Parishioners are doing their best to sort out the impact of yet another revelation that so many have suffered.  More and more are asking why married believers are disqualified from ministry for the past 500 years, when such a shortage of celibate men are becoming seen with such suspicion. For the first 1200 years of Constantine's model of church government, Priests were commonly married men. The Apostle Peter was a married church leader.
  Bishop David Konderla said; "
I am fully committed to doing everything within my power to protect our children. Today, the Diocese trains each priest, deacon, seminarian, diaconate candidate, lay employee, and volunteer to recognize the signs of sexual abuse and how to immediately report suspected abuse to local authorities. We seek to employ the best practices in child and youth protection and routinely submit to reviews by independent auditors to ensure complete compliance. "

"No politician 'checks off every box" in your list of issues. You have to prioritize and use personal discretion regarding every current and future issue that you can imagine. Then you have to also judge integrity & consistency. A candidate's openness to study the issues & courage to think for themselves. Then you need to review their honesty & work ethic.  I respect any voter's decision, when they've informed themselves and took voting seriously." - David Van Risseghem

SoonerPolitics.org is committed to informing & mobilizing conservative Oklahomans for civic reform & restored liberty. We seeks to utilize the efforts of all cooperative facets of the Conservative movement... Content of the diverse columns are solely at the discretion of the dozens of websites who create the content.   David Van Risseghem  is the founder of this platform.
Sooner Politics News is a platform, not a media site. All our bloggers get their feeds promoted regardless of content. As soon as We suppress or delete even one posting, we become an endorser of whatever We didn't censor..The publisher doesn't (and could not) logically agree with all the content, so we would not expect any rational reader to agree, either. What we do hope, is that readers will think for themselves, and at least be better informed of the issues, events, and values that our citizen journalists work hard to provide for free.. We automate much of the tasks so that our sources' content gets as much exposure as possible. We encourage constructive discussion & debate. The solution is more free speech, not less.
